PROTECT YOUR E-BIKE
WITH A STRONG MECHANICAL LOCK

Depending on your circumstances, a high-quality mechanical lock might be enough to keep your e-bike secure. Strong mechanical locks are highly durable and simple to operate. However, they may not be approved by your insurance company, so it’s always best to double check what they require.

INSURANCE APPROVED
E-BIKE LOCKS

Most insurance companies have minimum standards for approved locks for e-bikes. This will need to be checked with your insurer but it’s likely to be a ‘’Sold Secure Silver/Gold/Diamond’ rated lock that is required.

 

Sold Secure is a tiered security grading system used by the UK insurance industry:

  • Diamond  (optional) rated locking devices offer the highest level of security.

  • Gold (Bike value of £1500+) offers a high level of resistance against a dedicated thief.

  • Silver (Bike value of £1000+) offers a compromise between security and cost.

  • Bronze (Bike value of £250+) level typically offers defence against the opportunist thief.

 

We can then advise you further on the pros and cons of ‘D’/‘Shackle’, folding and wearable locks, if you need to upgrade your existing locks.

If you want the ultimate peace of mind, consider having a GPS tracker fitted.  For Bosch powered e-bikes, we recommend the official Bosch Connect Module GPS tracker and Bosch Flow+ app.

For total peace of mind, consider a bike recovery service, such as Backpedal. You can also include insurance for an additional fee.
